About SilverSurfers@Bedford

(Don't forget to use the scroll down option to read the whole page)

SilverSurfers@bedford is a project which has been running in the Bedford and Kempston area for the last 5-6 years.  BPHA is the organisation which runs the project and we offer computer clubs and courses within BPHA retirement schemes.

Through our umbrella project The Learning Network we can offer careers advice, training for younger people and much more - please ask. We work closely with other organisations in the area such as Bedford Borough Council and The Learning Partnership.

All of our centres are currently UKOnline centres. We offer Internet and computer access and training to the over 50's.  Since we no longer have any funding we ask for a small donation for attendance in order to fund our volunteers' expenses and our Internet connection.

Our main centres are:

This project only works because we have a group of wonderful volunteers who teach and help our clients to use computers and the Internet.

We are always looking for new people to join us as volunteers in training, web management and marketing.  We also have vacancies for art, craft and fitness volunteers in some of our other projects.

We organise regular training for our volunteers to keep them up to date with technology as well as introductory training for new volunteers.

Please feel free to contact us should you wish to know more or if you wish to volunteer or ask us to provide some taster sessions for your group in any aspect of computing.

Services we can provide

We can also provide for a small charge, a service to help you install and setup your computer or broadband connection, or tidy and organise your computer with you.  Contact us if you are interested.
